Obituary: PETE J. POULOS



Pete J. Poulos, age 76, of Wilmington, passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2007.

He was born in Poulato, and lived in Panagia on the Island of Ikaria, Greece, on June 29, 1931, to the late Zanis Poulos and Kyriakoula Bratsis Poulos.

Pete and his family owned and operated the City Markethttp://cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png Café in downtown Wilmington for 31 years. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, a member of Orient Lodge #395 A.F.&A.M., a 32nd Degreehttp://cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png Mason, and a Shriner. He was a proud member of the Pan-Ikarian Brotherhood of America, Chapter Therma.

Pete is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dena Poulos; three children, Koula Katsikis (Basile), Argie Brown (Doug), and John Poulos (Athena); seven grandchildren, Zaharoula, Katerina, Konstandena, Vasili, Demetri, Maria, and Pantelis; one brother, Emmanuel Poulos; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as his many friends and customers from the City Market Café who were all part of his family.

A Trisagion service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church on S. Collegehttp://cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net/items/it/img/arrow-10x10.png Road in Wilmington. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
